Understanding IPA

No, not India Pale Ale unfortunately, the International Phonetic Alphabet.

When reading comments for show hpr4724, the question arose of how to pronounce "Märzen". The IPA for this word is [ˈmɛʁt͡sn̩], but if you are like me, this is largely meaningless. However, a few years ago I found a website that can pronounce IPA sequences for you.

I recorded a show about this (and some other stuff), which is at https://hackerpublicradio.org/eps/hpr4002. You don't even have to listen to the audio, the show notes explain how to use the reader, which you can find at https://ipa-reader.com/.
